Sunday was a great day! It was my first Mother's day, and it was so cool to get Happy Mommy-to-be wishes! Daddy woke up and spoiled me with roses and Einstein's for breakfast. Then we went over to Barbara and Richard's to spoil MIL! We spent the day at the pool and had a delicious turkey for dinner. I had to take my dress to get altered for B & V's wedding. We had such a wonderful day, with the exception of the sharp pains I kept getting in my lower pelvic area and lower back. "It's fine"...I continued to say. "She's just sitting on a ligament. That's what the Dr. said." Monday came and went, and my students were crazy....then Tuesday I woke up with more pains. On the way to work, I almost drove off the road from the immense sharpness of these pains I was feeling. I was scheduled for a Dr's visit at 3:20 that day, so I didn't want to cause alarm. I got to school and asked Stef if the pains were normal, and she said it depends. So I called the Dr and they informed me that I needed to head to the hospital to check it out just in case. After much back and forth arguing with myself over going, I finally headed there at about noon. When I got to the hospital, they initially told me that I was dehydrated, until the monitors started rising and falling. "You are definitely having contractions" they informed me. "You are 1.5 cm dilated and 70% effaced." I started to freak out of course, because I have no experience with this. They informed me it was normal and that I just needed to take it easy and go on with my daily routine. Lola can now come at any time. No one seemed worried, so that made me feel better. Needless today, I got home that evening and me and daddy packed our bags for the arrival of our little bundle. We are now ready for her! We've been having pep talks each day reminding her that we need to wait for the family to arrive in June. Time will tell now.
As for baby, what is new with her internally this week? First of all, before all this pregnancy stuff, my uterus was a small ball the size of my fist and was tucked neatly away behind my pelvis. Today my uterus is the size of a small watermelon and reaches all the way up to my ribs. This is why my ribs are bruised and sore to the touch. Nearly 1/6 of my body's blood is in my uterus, which explains my constant light headedness. I am now going to the dr. once a week until I deliver. Every Tuesday. This week I had my Strep B test. She now is about 18 inches long and weighs about 5 1/2, as much as one of those delicious Publix sheet cakes!! The countdown is on!
