14 weeks- "Orange" you as excited as we are!!!

Another busy week for baby! This week the baby is about the size of a large orange and the body is catching up to the size of the head now. It can grimace, squint, frown, and even suck his/her thumb! The facial muscles are starting to work hard and the baby is making many different facial expressions. The baby is also starting to grow hair all over the body to keep him/her warm. The fingerprints are also now in tact. Fun fact- The baby actually creates them him/herself while swimming around in the amniotic fluid. As it moves its hands, the skin on the tips of his fingers form unique ridges and folds. That's why no one on earth has the same fingerprints, not even identical twins! Cool, right? How about mom?: I am finally feeling more like myself. My energy is coming back (even though I still LOVE my naps) and my baby bump has officially shown itself. I had friends coming up and feeling my belly this time for the first time. And so it begins! I was really hoping my nausea to chicken would disappear by now, but that hasn't happened yet. Ryan is doing well. We are ready to find out if it is a boy or girl! A few more weeks and we'll know!! Very exciting!!!!
