So, since I'm running out of fruits big enough to compare our little darling to until she reaches watermelon status, we'll go with any object that is about the same size. This week, apparently she is approximately 13 1/2 inches, or about the length of a recorder. Remember playing that in elementary school!? She weighs about 1 1/2 pounds and is growing more an more every week. My uterus is about the size of a soccer ball, which explains my HUGE belly that suddenly popped out of no where! This week the baby's hands are finished developing, and I can feel her searching around with them at all hours of the day. Brain and nerve endings have developed enough so she can feel the sensation of touch. The other night, Ryan put his head on my belly and told her to kick him, and she did!! He was offended at first, but then I reminded him that she was just following directions and being a good listener. ;) The arms and legs are almost finished developing completely, and will be about the length that they are now at birth. They say they look short when they are born, but begin growing right away afterwards. Another big change this week is that the nostrils are opening so she can start practicing breathing through her nose. Her skin has been pretty transparent up until now, and this week it is beginning to get more pigment in it.
We are getting more and more excited every day. It's is going SO FAST, while at the same time, it's not coming fast enough. We are really buckling down now trying to get the house organized for her arrival. It's hard because we haven't started buying much yet, but we have so many great ideas and plans that we are ready to start doing!!
