This week our little girl is almost 15 inches long and weighs a little over 2 pounds (about the weight of a head of cauliflower). I feel her kicking and rolling around constantly and am starting to be able to tell which body part is protruding from my body. That's so amazing to think! We are almost into the third trimester now. AHHHH!! We have so much to do still!! They say that this week, the baby is pretty much formed to the exact way she is going to be when we deliver, but she will just continue to grow and develop over the next 13 weeks. This week she also starts to blink. She can now open her eyes! They have been sealed shut ever since they developed, but now they are working and seeing! She also develops a waking and sleeping pattern over the next few weeks, which I can already tell you are not working out for mommy!! She is up kicking me every night right as I go to bed! They say that babies begin to dream during the 27th and 28th week and their brains are constantly processing information. They also begin to develop the characteristic grooves on the brain surface with the development of more brain tissue. How crazy is that!? She's changing and growing so much each week.
As for mom, this week has been a long one. She is really sitting on my sciatic nerve, and it's causing a lot of pain when I'm trying to chase around my little kindergarteners. I know it's all worth it though. My belly is getting bigger and bigger and more and more people are coming to feel it in hopes to catch her kicking. My uterus is the size of a soccer ball now...how fitting!! I used to joke around with a soccer ball under my shirt all the time when I was little, and now...I really DO have a soccer ball in my belly!! We went to Home Depot and picked out paint last weekend, and decided on a pretty peachy pink color. Ryan is going to paint while I'm in Iowa over my Spring Break. We also signed up for our baby care classes. I'll keep you posted on how they go. We're getting more and more anxious every day. It's coming SO FAST and we feel like we haven't done anything to get ready, but I know it will start falling into place now. Classes start, nursery starts, shower fun and even MORE belly growth! We're having so much fun right now preparing ourselves for the arrival.
